Pingback: Updated Tea Sandwiches | joinmefordinner
I updated one of my mom’s old recipes from the 50′s and made Chevre with Dried Cherry and Cinnamon tea sandwiches. Thanks for choosing this, Aura. It is a recipe I would have flipped past in the book if it hadn’t been for you.
I read your post and my heart aches for you… I am sure your mom would have loved your post.
Thanks, Margarita. Her passing has been made easier by the fact that I have a new little grandson, born just a few hours after Mom died. I like to think that Mom made a little space in this world for baby Ethan to fill.
I filled my tea sandwiches with shaved carrots, radish, Panela cheese, with a special carrot and collard green spread. It wasn’t so great as a tea sandwich but it was amazing as a bruschetta!
Here’s my post:

Thanks for choosing this Aura!

I made the pea sandwiches and loved them! Here’s my link – http://www.joanne-eatswellwithothers.com/2012/07/recipe-gingered-pea-tea-sandwiches-with.html
I used sunflowerseed rye bread and cream cheese for my sandwiches and served them with smoked salmon. Great pick Aura!

I made the smørrebrød, the Danish-style open face sandwich, topped with yogurt cheese, cucumber, beets, and balsamic glaze: http://adrienneats.blogspot.com/2012/07/smrrebrd.html
I made the pea sandwiches too, but curried them instead, and added a coconut-cilantro chutney.

I deconstructed the recipe for the cucumber wasabi sandwiches and made it as a dip. It was great! I also subbed in pea shoots for water cress because I like them so much more. I did try it on bread but actually liked it better without. Great recipes everyone!

I loved this week’s recipe! Where has walnut butter been all my life?! http://www.givingtable.org/blog/2012/7/2/the-food-matters-project-walnut-butter-and-radish-crostini.html
We went the same route as Vanilla Lemon and used fruit in ours with cucumber and cantaloupe on multigrain. The collective Food Matters tea party looks divine!

Glad everyone is having fun with this recipe–I was trying to pick something no-cook for this hot first week of July!
I ended up leaving town and just grabbed a few ingredients as I headed out the door. I made several combinations using cucumber, garlicky pea spread, radishes, arugula, and sunflower sprouts. I served them with a chilled avocado-radish-basil soup from Martha Stewart Living’s latest issue.

Have a great day!
After reading about Nicole’s Radish-Walnut Tea Sandwiches I had to make my own now that I am home! Updated my post to include a photo of the ones I just made…and ate!
Great pick this week Aura! Sorry to have missed it – we have a full house of out of town guests and have been out and about having adventures!
Thanks, Alyssa! Sounds like you are having tons of fun! See ya next wee

I wanted something quick and easy that I could enjoy all summer as an afternoon snack so I went with avocado and grapefruit with a honey lime vinaigrette! I can’t wait to try some of the other variations, they all look delicious!

I made both the arugula/radish and apple/pumpkin. More of a fan of the arugula one, but the pumpkin might be nice in the fall…

I made 2 types, who knew tiny sandwiches could be so good!? The Roasted Tomato, Balsamic Caramelized Onion, and Sharp Cheddar was by far my favorite.
Love your renditions above ladies!
Thanks for the pick Aura, I would have never spent time dreaming up such cute little sandwiches had you not picked it.

Love quick sandwiches. I made “Open-Faced Tomato and Cucumber Sandwich with Tahini-Miso Spread”. This was a light and vibrant dinner made with garden fresh produce and an addictive spread…yum! Great choice. Love everyone’s versions.

Phew, sneaking in at the last minute. I made three sandwiches – beet salad, grilled veggies with sundried tomato basil pesto, and radish, apple, and caramelized onion with fig jam.
This was a really fun pick and I enjoyed experimenting with different sandwich options. Thanks Aura!

I am late to the party, moving kept me busy longer than I thought. I made the tea sandwiches today, and added avocado to the cucumber wasabi tea sandwich:

Hi everyone — my first time joining! Sorry, it looks like Monday is the day to post, so I’ll make sure to do it earlier next time. I made my tea sandwiches with hummus and tomato. It was perfect for a heat wave here in DC. Thanks for a great pick, Aura!

Welcome to the group! I love Trader Joe’s Hummus too!
Thank you! It feels lazy to use store-bought, but it’s oh-so good.
I went one recipe too far, but still yummy.

No formal post about this recipe, but I tried the egg and olive filling in a sandwich for dinner last night. So good! Leave it to Mr. Bittman to convince me my egg salad purists ways were wrong haha.
Another great pic! I went with little nori sandwiches!
