ooops! i thought this week was the fritters and was planning to make them tomorrow, but i guess i was wrong. i have no ingredients on hand for this particular one and am not a big fan of wheat berries, so i will have to see if i can come up with something in the next few days. sorry guys.
Hello! I made a roasted root vegetable and wheat berry salad with arugula, feta, and a mustard vinaigrette. I’ll be posting tonight but wanted to chime in. Been a busy day!
Here’s my beef-less take on the meal. I added some chestnuts for substance, and brussel sprouts for greenness! Thanks for picking this recipe Camilla, we loved it!
Great recipe, Camilla! We took a few liberties with it, by using apple chicken sausage instead of beef, beer in place of the red wine & barley instead of buying wheat berries, but used basically the same cooking technique, which is why I think this was such a great choice…there are so many different varieties you could make!
Okay, finally got around to posting! Thanks for the pick, Camilla! I made a vegetarian spinoff with roasted root veggies but the combo of wheat berries and root veggies was great.
Oops – I forgot to post my link yesterday. This was so delicious for cooler weather, although I skipped the wheat berries and replaced with quinoa. Great pick, Camilla!
This was a hit! I diverged quite a bit since I didn’t have any farro. Whoops. I also added in a lot of Fall flavors, mixing in quince, chestnuts, roasted pumpkin, and watermelon radishes. Delish! http://culinary-adventures-with-cam.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-food-matters-project-braised-beef.html

I turned this recipe into a barley salad with roasted fall vegetables. http://www.givingtable.org/blog/2012/11/5/the-food-matters-project-barley-salad-with-roasted-fall-vege.html
we used venison instead of beef. also, this week’s csa didn’t have any parsnips or turnips, much to my dismay, so we used carrots & potatoes instead.
braised venison + potatoes & carrots
I used lamb for my meat and made a stew with wheat berries in a red wine sauce. Great pick Camilla! I had never cooked with wheat berries before.
