Hello friends, DFJ made the paella for our Valentine’s dinner while I made some champagne cupcakes. We are on a weekend getaway and are still in Portland, so my post will be up later. Thanks for choosing a great dinner item Meg!
Thanks, it was great pick and it took me back to the memory lane – Andalusia, Costa del Sol and the most delicious paella I ever ate. I change couple of ingredients, I made it vegan with smoked red bell pepper taste http://cookingpoetry.com/food-matters-monday-week-6/
p.s. my camera is dead for no reason, so for a while I’ll take my picture with my phone, hope they won’t be bad
Thanks for a great pick, Meg! I discovered I’m not crazy about the taste of saffron, which totally surprised me, but I did like the paella! Reminded me a bit of Spanish rice. I made mine vegan with zucchini, peas, and chickpeas so I know I was missing out on some serious, authentic goodness but I enjoyed it nevertheless! http://dinnerwithaura.com/2013/02/paella-with-lots-of-vegetables/
I’ve been trying to make a good paella for years now, and this recipe made for my best attempt yet. Hope everyone else had fun trying it!

Meg, I’m away and will be home tomorrow. I hope to get home early enough to make this….had some great paella in Spain too.
I definitely recommend trying it at some point. It’s a bit more manageable than most paella recipes but still yields yummy results!
Nice pick, Meg. I opted to kick-it-up-a-notch versus pairing it down, merging Bittman’s version with another paella recipe I had. This was a hit! http://culinary-adventures-with-cam.blogspot.com/2013/02/food-matters-project-kicked-up-notch.html

Sounds wonderful. I love paella and think this one would be very tasty if pared down. Lol.
